Touch, tilt or buttons: picking controls that actually work
There's no single best control scheme on mobile, despite what people insist. For a racer like Neon Drift Rush, tilt steering felt natural once I tuned the sensitivity. For an RPG, I'd never want tilt anywhere near it.
Virtual sticks get a bad reputation, but a well-placed one with a bit of dead zone is perfectly fine for adventures and slower games. The problems come when developers glue the stick to a fixed spot instead of letting it float under your thumb.
Tap-to-move works great for casual and simulation titles where precision beats speed. Where it falls apart is anything needing fast reactions. Know the genre before you judge the scheme.
My advice: always check whether a game lets you remap or resize controls. The ones that do almost always feel better after two minutes of fiddling.
